June guest speaker report

Our speaker this month was Mark Ashton, from Pheasant Acre Plants, who gave a talk entitled `Flowers and plants for the season`. The talk started with begonias and Mark`s slide show illustrated the different types of these plants, some with small delicate-looking flowers, and some with huge brightly coloured blooms. Mark went on to talk about dahlias, gladioli and various other seasonal plants, all illustrated with a very colourful slideshow. Mark also gave us some tips on growing and caring for these plants, including how to prepare and present them for showing.

We had a huge turnout for this talk by one of our regular speakers, and the tea and coffee makers were very busy! Thank you to everyone who helped in the kitchen, including with the washing-up.

Our next talk is on Wednesday 31st July at 7.30pm in the Llantonian Hall. Sheena Crossley will be advising us how to grow and use herbs and everyone is welcome.
