January Speaker Report

Our speaker this month was Anthea Guthrie with a talk entitled Floating Gardens of the Atlantic.

Unfortunately, due to a technical issue, Anthea was unable to show the photos she`d produced to illustrate her talk. However, because of the detailed descriptions and the pictures she painted, we could imagine how the gardens would have looked, including the scale and the setting. Anthea described gardens she has visited in Madeira, Lanzarote, Tenerife and Gran Canaria, with recommendations of the best ones to see.

She has also designed many show gardens, one of which was on a cruise ship, and Anthea related stories of the measures she went to to obtain the plants required, and how the garden was created around the swimming pool!

There was an excellent turnout for this talk and everyone agreed that it was a very enjoyable evening, and we look forward to welcoming Anthea back at a later date for another enthusiastic, interesting and informative talk
