February Speaker Report
Our speaker in February was Colin Cheesman, an ecologist with the Vale Council who gave us a very interesting talk on nature in the county.
The Vale is rich in wildlife with a very diverse range of both habitats and species, some of which are threatened, such as the Shore Dock, the High Brown Fritillary Butterfly, and Great Crested Newts.
The Vale contains 27 sites of Special Scientific Interest and other protected sites including nature reserves. Whilst the Vale is dominated by farmland, it is vital that we look after all these important areas and protect all the wildlife for the future.
Our March speaker details are below and attendees are reminded to bring cash if they'd like to sample the plant sale!
