What's on in the Vale this month?

Whilst we know the society summer show is top of your social calendar this month, the whole thirty one days are filled with events in our county and beyond...

1st - 31st August

The Vale of Glamorgan Council hosts the return of the Festival of Flowers, this time held through a variety of events in Cowbridge.

Held in an attempt to drive people back to the high street following the pandemic, the festival allows traders to showcase their blooms through everything from fashion and gifts to cocktails and food and beauty treatments.

Installations from Rhian Rees of Wild & Fabulous Flowers will cascade through the high street and floral displays will adorn traders by window artist Claire Williams of Huxley and Mabel.

A flower fairy trail for children will be held in the Old Hall Gardens and a variety of workshops are planned throughout the month. Bont Gin are creating a floral inspired gin specifically for the festival and hosting a Flower Crown workshop with Florrie and Jo where attendees can take a sample.

Bryan Bird from The Bay Tree is hosting a summer floral workshop in store and the Hare and Hounds Bakery will be hosting a flower arranging workshop with Rhian Rees.

The August Bank Holiday weekend will showcase the end of the festival with Saturday 27th hosting acts including the Flower Pot People, The Flowerfls and a Flower Fairy entertaining visitors in town, with a string quartet performing in the Physic Garden.
